'Shouldn't have taken place in any month': CM on Gulmarg event

Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said a probe was ordered into a controversial fashion show held in the Gulmarg area of Baramulla district on March 7, adding that his government would have never given permission for such an event in "any month".
The row over the event — organised by designers Shivan and Narresh — broke out over the weekend after a backlash from many prominent figures in Kashmir, including chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who said that "such obscenity in the name of tourism promotion will not be tolerated in Kashmir".
The controversy rocked the UT's assembly on Monday even as Shivan and Narresh apologised for hosting the event.
