Money recovered in I-T raids has nothing to do with Cong: Sahu

Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu on Friday said the money recovered by the Income Tax (I-T) department during raids in three states across locations linked to an Odisha-based distillery group owned by his family "does not belong to any political party", even as the total seizures clocked upwards of ₹360 crore, according to officials.

The raids in West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand at premises linked to Boudh Distillery Private Limited in Odisha's Boudh district, which began on December 6, came to a close in the early hours of Friday, capping ten days of searches and recording the country's "highest-ever" cash haul, the officials said.
"I have been in active politics for the last 30-35 years. The money that was seized was not meant for the Congress or other political parties, but proceeds of sale of liquor," Sahu said.
