'Garbage fee' leaves property tax in limbo

The fee, levied alongside property taxes from April 1, has sparked complaints, especially among Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), who are flooded with queries from concerned residents.
Atul Goyal, head of URJA United RWAs Joint Action, urged the MCD to clear the confusion quickly to avoid a dip in property tax collections. He recommended that residents pay taxes without holding back, despite the unresolved issues surrounding the garbage charge. "The fee was imposed without an official order or circular, and the mayor announced its withdrawal last week," he added.
