AQI hits 'severe-plus' on dirtiest December day in city since 2021

The spell of noxious air in Delhi worsened on Thursday, as pollution worsened into the "severe plus" zone with an air quality index (AQI) of 451—making it the most polluted December day in three years, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
The last time the city breathed worse air in the month was on December 26, 2021, when the AQI hit 459. The most polluted December day ever was December 21, 2017, at 469.
