Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday asked the state police to strengthen the security arrangements along the Char Dham yatra route.

DEHRADUN:

"If any suspicious person is seen on the yatra route, the person should be immediately detained. The general public should also be made aware of the issue. A toll-free number should be issued for information about suspicious activities so that common people can share information on the concerned number," he said while presiding over a meeting of senior officials at his official residence in Dehradun.

He also directed that citizens of Pakistan be identified and that the process of sending them back begin with immediate effect.

Of 250 Pakistani nationals identified in Uttarakhand, 247 are long-term visa holders who are exempted from the visa revocation announced by the Union government, said the state police on Saturday.

India on Thursday revoked visas issued to Pakistani citizens and advised its nationals not to travel to Pakistan as part of punitive diplomatic measures over cross-border linkages to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.

It, however, clarified that revocation doesn't apply to Long Term Visas issued to Hindus.

Dhami also directed the officials to expedite the ongoing verification campaign in the state and impose fines on the landlords who aren't getting their tenants verified.
