RIMS director's termination fuels political slugfest in state

The state's decision to terminate Dr Raj Kumar as the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) director four months after his appointment has sparked a political slugfest in Jharkhand, with the Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi terming the action a result of the "government's bias against a Dalit who did not compromise on rules".

"The news from the RIMS director shows that, in the GB meeting, verbal pressure was being exerted on him to make improper payments to Healthmap and MEDAL, whereas objections have been raised on this in the AG's audit. This became the main reason for the sudden removal of this talented RIMS director, who comes from the Dalit community, by humiliating and harassing him without asking for any reason and without giving him a chance to present his side," a post from Marandi on X read.
