This is the 4th such arrest in the state as part of a crackdown on espionage networks after Op Sindor

- Suresh Foujdar

BHARATPUR/BARMER/JAIPUR: The Delhi Police and intelligence agencies arrested a 35-year-old man on charges of spying for Pakistan at Deeg district in Rajasthan, police officers aware of the matter said on Friday, adding that coordinated raids have been launched amid heightened surveillance along the India and Pakistan border to track down the family members of the accused who are currently absconding.

The accused was identified as Kasim Mev, who was arrested on Thursday, and is a resident of Gangora village under Pahari police station in Deeg district, they added.

Mev is among several suspects, including a government clerk and a teacher, who were either recently held or suspended from service following an expanding crackdown across Rajasthan on alleged espionage linked to Pakistan's ISI.

This is the fourth such arrest in Rajasthan as part of a larger crackdown on espionage networks after Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7 in response to an April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. Since then, at least four suspects have been arrested in the state for alleged spying activities for Pakistan, said police.
