Latehar farmers continue protest over flyover delay, list demands

Farmers in Latehar's Chandwa, who began an indefinite 'Jal Samadhi Satyagraha' on Sunday demanding approval of a revised estimate for the flyover bridge on Tori-Chandwa NH 99 (New 22), among other issues, continued their protest for the second consecutive day on Monday.

Their primary demand is the immediate approval of the new estimate for the Tori-Chandwa flyover bridge and the commencement of its construction following the completion of the tendering process. They are also seeking a re-evaluation of the land and houses acquired for the project, along with an increase in the compensation amount to be paid to the affected farmers.

Other demands include the resumption of work on the footbridge west of Tori junction (currently closed), the construction of an underpass near the Tori railway crossing, the introduction of a passenger train service from Tori to Balumath, and the construction of another underpass near railway poles numbered 182/28 and 182/29 on the Bhandargarha-Parsahi road between Tori and Mahuamilan stations, east of Tori.
