Jharkhand High Court (HC) directed secretary of higher and technical education department Rahul Purwar to personally appear before the court on February 17 to reply why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for delaying payment of a section of demonstrators of government engineering colleges despite the HC order.

- Raj Kumar

RANCHI:

A high court advocate close to the matter said the order was passed by the court of Justice Ananda Sen.

"The matter was heard on January 31 in the court of Justice Ananda Sen. The petitioners who had filed contempt pleas included Arun Kumar, Anju Jha, Arun Kumar Sharma, Ravindra Kumar Sharma, Ram Niwas Sharma and Vasant Kumar Singh, who worked as demonstrators of government engineering colleges," the advocate said.

"The contempt case arose after the demonstrators were not paid a salary at par with other demonstrators of engineering colleges despite a high court order on April 18, 2023," he said.

High court order uploaded on the website confirmed the fact.
