EVM Completely Safe for Voting in India: CEC on Jharkhand Visit
Hindustan Times Ranchi
|April 13, 2025
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar reiterated the election body's stand that the electronic voting machines (EVMs) used in India for voting are entirely safe, as they can't be tampered with or hacked, and hence the result thrown up under the regime reflects the people's mandate.
RANCHI:
The remark comes a day after concerns were raised by Tulsi Gabbard, United States director of national intelligence, over the 'vulnerability' of electronic voting systems (EVS) in the US to hacking. She also advocated for paper ballot-based elections. To be sure, she was commenting about the machines used in the US and not specifically referring to the EVMs used in India.
Addressing reporters at an event at Rajrappa in the Ramgarh district, Kumar said the EVMs used in the country are different from systems in other countries.
