Accused Shifted to RIMS After Health Concerns

The Birsa Munda Central Jail authorities shifted 1999-batch IAS officer and panchayati raj secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey to the state-run super-speciality hospital, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), following complaints of renal problems and high blood pressure, a paramedical staff member said on Thursday.

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Anti-Corruption Bureau's action in the ₹38 crore liquor scam case continued as three more people were sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail in judicial custody till June 3, people familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

Those sent to jail included former Jharkhand State Beverage Corporation Limited (JSBCL) official Sudhir Kumar, present GM of the same company Sudhir Kumar Das, and local representative of a placement agency, M/S Marshaqn Innovate Security Services Pvt. Ltd., Neeraj Singh. They were arrested late Wednesday evening.

A civil court lawyer close to the matter said the trio—Sudhir Kumar, Sudhir Kumar Das, and Neeraj Singh—were produced before the court of ACB special judge Yogesh Kumar, from where they were sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail till June 3.

The lawyer added that out of the three sent to jail, two were associated with the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA), Ranchi region, and one was related to the joint commissioner of the excise department, who has already been arrested in the case.
