Raj Medical Council Seeks Amendments to RMC Act

The RMC Will Be Forming a Panel to Review the Act and Propose Changes. It Will Then Be Sent to the State Govt for Approval

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Medical Council will push the government to amend the Rajasthan Medical Council Act of 1952 with the aim to simplify provisions regarding registration of new doctors while introducing stricter provisions on misleading ads by doctors on social media, RMC registrar Dr Giridhar Goyal said on Monday.

"The Rajasthan Medical Council Act is very old, dating back to 1952. In view of the changed scenario now, the rules need to be updated to keep pace with changing times," Goyal told HT.

Dr Jagdish Chandra Modi, president of RMC, said a committee will be appointed to review the Act and propose changes. "The committee will submit a draft to the RMC within a month. The draft will be put up in the General Body Meeting of the RMC and after it is approved, it will be sent to the state government for approval," he said.
