India's Circular Economy Can Be Worth $2 Trillion by '50: Min

Union minister for environment, forest and climate change Bhupender Yadav said on Tuesday that India's circular economy has the potential to generate a market value exceeding $2 trillion and create nearly 10 million jobs by 2050.

Addressing the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific, Yadav said the circular economy can drive one of the most significant transformations in business since the Industrial Revolution, moving away from the traditional "take, make, waste" model. This shift could contribute an additional $4.5 trillion to the global economy by 2030, he added.
"By 2050, India's circular economy can be worth more than $2 trillion and create nearly 10 million jobs," the minister said.
Yadav informed the forum about India's candidacy for organizing the World Circular Economy Forum in 2026. Every year, the World Circular Economy Forum is held, and this year, it will be organized in Sao Paulo, Brazil. India has expressed the willingness to host the World Circular Economy Forum 2026.
