HIGH COURT CALLS FOR CAUTION WHEN HANDLING FAMILY DISPUTES
Hindustan Times Rajasthan
|December 17, 2024
The Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday underscored the need for magistrates to exercise caution and apply judicial mind when handling family disputes, emphasising that such cases should aim to foster harmony rather than escalate conflicts.
JODHPUR:
Justice Arun Monga said, "In cases of familial disputes, where one relative accuses another of criminal conduct triable by a magistrate, it is advisable that utmost caution is exercised by both law enforcement and the magistrates before directing registration of FIRs. In such sensitive matters, it is imperative to act with circumspection, prioritising efforts to mend familial relationships rather than exacerbating discord."
