A 62-year-old man has been arrested in Jodhpur for killing two minors over a financial dispute with their father, police said on Monday.
JODHPUR:
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Rajarshi Raj Verma said: "Bodies of the two minors were found on Sunday morning, three days after they went missing. The accused, identified as Shyam Singh Bhati, from Nathdwara was arrested on Sunday night for killing Tamanna alias Tannu (12) and her brother Shivpal (8), children of Pradeep Pal. The two families knew each other for over 15 years."
He said that Bhati fled Jodhpur after committing the crime but was apprehended in Nathdwara, Rajsamand district. "During interrogation, the accused admitted that he killed the children as revenge for their father severing business ties with him, which had caused significant financial losses."
The police said that during investigation it was revealed that Bhati was originally from Phalodi and was known as Mukund Thanvi. "Mukund Thanvi was ostracized by his community years ago, prompting him to assume the identity of Shyam Singh Bhati. He created new identification documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, and even established a bangle factory under his assumed name. His business partner, Pradeep Pal, was unaware of his true identity," Verma said.
