Gehlot Questions 'Sudden Ceasefire' During Op Sindoor, Targets PM Modi

JAIPUR: The entire country stood united during Operation Sindoor, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to keep up with the public's faith, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Thursday.

"During Operation Sindoor, the entire country—from the opposition to the public—was seen standing united for the first time under Modi's rule in India. The entire country proved that they still have faith in the government and in India's democracy," Gehlot told reporters during his visit to Udaipur.

"We all stood together against Pakistan's terrorism. It could only benefit the government. But what did they do with that faith? The operation was suddenly stopped without explanation. When Rahul Gandhi and the opposition raise that question, they create an environment against the opposition only."

The Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and carried out targeted strikes at nine terror infrastructures linked to outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, etc., in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The operation was launched in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Baisaran near Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
