Four constables held for abducting, extorting ₹2 lakh from 2 people: DCP

Four police constables posted at Mata Ka Than police station in Jodhpur were arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly abducting two people, unlawfully detaining them, and extorting ₹2 lakh in cash along with cryptocurrency.

All four officers have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against them, a senior officer said.

“A complaint was filed by Dilip Gaur, a resident of Ramdev Nagar on Banar Road. He alleged that on July 14 around 4 pm, he had gone shopping with his friend Ramesh Sharma, a resident of Subhash Chowk, to a mall near Manji Ka Hatha.

While they were parking their car, constable Jagmal — dressed in uniform — along with three or four other policemen in plain clothes, approached them and began intimidating them,” said Alok Srivastava, DCP (East).
