Cong, BJP Trade Barbs Over Delayed RCA Polls

Even one year after coming to power in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has failed to conduct elections to the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), with players being the worst sufferers in the process, people aware of the development said on Thursday.

The state government formed an ad hoc committee in March 2023 to oversee the elections to the RCA. BJP MLA from Sri Ganganagar Jaideep Bihani is the convener of the ad hoc panel.

According to Bihani, the poll delay was caused after the new districts carved out by the previous Congress government came under review by the current BJP government. "The BJP government was reviewing the creation of the new districts. We were waiting for the process to finish, so that there would be clarity on the new districts. After finalisation of the districts, district cricket associations will be formed and elections will be held to elect their functionaries," he said.

To be sure, elected presidents of the district cricket associations choose the president of the RCA.

Bihani added that since the government has dissolved the new districts, the process of elections will be set in motion soon, although he did not announce a deadline.
