JAIPUR: Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday launched a scathing attack on BJP, accusing the ruling party at the Centre of undermining the Constitution and democracy in the country. He described the current situation in the country as an "undeclared emergency".

The Congress leader said that over the past 11 years under the BJP rule, the Indian democracy "declined the most".

He said in a post on X, "It is ironic that BJP governments are observing 'Constitution Murder Day'. It is like a dishonest person giving lectures on honesty." Gehlot alleged that civil liberties, freedom of the press and opposition voices are being stifled in the country. "If democracy has declined the most in this country, it has happened in the last 11 years," he said.
