Minister to push for clearing cancer hospital project in city

The pending proposal for a dedicated cancer hospital in Pune is finally gaining momentum and a proposal to provide the required land has been given to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), said minister of state for medical education, Madhuri Misal.

At a meeting held on Friday at B J Medical College (BJMC) and Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) to review the proposed project, Misal stressed on the urgent need for a full-fledged cancer treatment facility.
"SGH gets a heavy patient load from across districts, and the existing infrastructure is under pressure. It is crucial to expand services and set up a cancer hospital near BJMC and SGH to cater to the growing demand," said Misal.
