Man on run after killing woman in Canada held

SANGRUR: A 27-year-old man, who had fled to India after allegedly murdering a woman in Canada in October last year, has been arrested in Punjab’s Sangrur district, police said on Saturday, adding that he had issued threats to her family in the district to drop the murder case against him.
According to officials familiar with the matter, accused Manpreet Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri, was arrested on Thursday. He had fled to India soon after killing Amanpreet Kaur (27) in Canada on October 20, 2025, officials said.
