An Ahmedabad court on Friday granted bail on health grounds to Bahubali Shah, co-owner of the Gujarat Samachar newspaper, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate late on Thursday after raids on offices linked to the Gujarati daily and the homes of its owners.
AHMEDABAD:
Shah was arrested around 8pm on Thursday over alleged financial irregularities, officials said. However, the ED was yet to issue a statement specifying the grounds for arrest. The X account of Gujarat Samachar, founded in 1932, has been suspended since May 9. According to the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Q1 2019, the last time it participated in the survey, the daily had a readership of over 11 million in Gujarat.
