SC to hear cop's plea after FIR against IPS officer whom she accuses of rape quashed

The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing on the plea filed by a woman police officer, challenging the Patna High Court order that quashed the FIR against IPS officer Pushkar Anand.

The woman, currently posted as SP in the CID Control Room, had accused Anand, a 2009-batch IPS officer posted as SP in the Special Branch, of rape under the false promise of marriage.

The woman police officer filed a special leave petition seeking the quashing of the criminal proceedings against Anand.

A bench of Justices Pankaj Mithal and Ahsanuddin Amanullah adjourned the matter observing the petition required certain corrections.

The plea, represented by advocate Ashwani Kumar Dubey, asserts that the Patna High Court's order, passed on September 19, 2024, is "perverse, devoid of any legal merits, beyond the facts of the case and contrary to the settled law."
