Budget session of Bihar state legislature to begin from today

The budget session of the state legislature will begin from February 28 with the joint address of Governor Arif Mohammed Khan to both houses on Friday at the central hall of the extended building of the state legislature.

The first day of the budget session would also see presentation of the economic survey 2025-26 and obituary references to members who have died in the period after the winter session last year. The state budget for fiscal year 2025-26 would be presented on March 3, which was likely to be over 3 lakh crore with higher allocations to education, health, infrastructure and rural development, sources said.

Speaker, state assembly Nand Kishore Yadav has already held meetings with representatives of political parties and also senior officials ahead of the budget session to review the preparedness.

"There will be total 20 sittings of the house and there would be important legislative businesses during the session," the Speaker said on Thursday. He said both the ruling and opposition parties have stressed running the question hour without disruptions.
