ACCORDING TO U.K. MEDIA, RELATIVES OF ONE VICTIM ABANDONED THE FUNERAL AFTER DISCOVERING THEIR COFFIN CONTAINED AN UNKNOWN PASSENGER'S BODY
India on Wednesday said it is working with the UK to resolve “concerns and issues” after a British newspaper reported that authorities wrongly identified the remains of two British victims of the Air India flight 171 crash before repatriating them.
The Boeing 787 crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12, killing 260 people—all but one of the 242 passengers and crew members aboard the aircraft and 19 on the ground. Fifty-two British citizens were among the dead. The aircraft lost power and crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel shortly after taking off for London.
