On the one hand, the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly is undergoing transformational changes, with installation of tablets to reduce use of papers and increased emphasis on cleanliness, but on the other hand, a legislator spat pan masala on the floor of the House.
LUCKNOW:
The incident, which came to light before the commencement of the House on Tuesday during the ongoing budget session, prompted Speaker Satish Mahana to reprimand MLAs, asking them to prevent such practices and maintain the dignity of the Vidhan Sabha.
As soon as the assembly convened in the morning, Mahana said he came to know that a member has spit pan masala in the House. "I am aware who the member is. The video is available. But I do not want to publicly take a name because I do not intend to humiliate anyone. The member who did it should come and meet me or I will be forced to summon him," he told the House, without disclosing the identity of the MLA who spat in the House.
