Pb orders DNA testing on child beggars with adults to verify relation

The district administrations in Amritsar and Mohali on Thursday launched a special drive to crack down on begging, a day after the Punjab government issued a directive to conduct DNA tests on children found begging with adults to verify their relationship, officials aware of the matter said.
The Punjab government, on Wednesday, directed all deputy commissioners in the state to conduct DNA tests on children found begging with adults on the streets to verify their family ties, officials said. State minister Baljit Kaur said the initiative is aimed at preventing child trafficking and exploitation.
