HDFC CEO Moves HC to Quash ₹2.05 Crore Bribery FIR by Lilavati Trust

FIR accuses bank CEO of bribery, harassment; he calls charges baseless

MUMBAI: HDFC Bank MD and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, 60, has approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash a First Information Report (FIR) filed against him in a case involving the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, which manages the prominent Lilavati Hospital in Bandra West.

The FIR, registered on May 31 following a Bandra magistrate's order, stems from a complaint by trustee Prashant Mehta, who alleged that Jagdishan accepted ₹2.05 crore in cash from former trustees, led by Chetan Mehta, to help them retain illegal control over the trust and to harass his late father Kishor Mehta, whose company was embroiled in a loan default dispute with HDFC Bank.
