KOLKATA: The verdict in the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata last year, which led to nationwide outrage and prolonged protests, will be delivered on Saturday.

Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer with the city police, was charged with committing the crime on the 31-year-old doctor at the state-run hospital in Kolkata on August 9 last year.

The judgment will be delivered 57 days after the trial commenced before the court of additional district and sessions judge Anirban Das.
