A love story that can't see beyond its flaws

“Pyaar andha hota hai.” This is not an attempt at wordplay but an actual dialogue from the film. Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan is a story about a visually challenged singer, Jahaan (Vikrant Massey), who meets Saba (Shanaya Kapoor in her debut) on a train hurtling towards a scenic destination. She’s an aspiring actor who has blindfolded herself as part of prep for a role. She has no clue about him not being able to see — and their tale begins.

There's a reason Ruskin Bond's It's All In The Eyes was written as a short story — it's a quiet, poignant piece about human connection and the power of nonverbal communication. Its impact lies in its brevity. Stretched into a feature-length film, the story now doesn't quite capture the same emotional resonance.

The story loses the viewer in the beginning itself. A girl goes to a completely unknown place with a stranger and doesn't take the blindfold off even once! Okay, we accept the suspension of disbelief.
