Delhi HC asks NIA reply on Rashid's plea for custody parole

The Delhi high court (HC) on Wednesday sought the National Investigation Agency (NIA's) response to a plea filed by jailed Jammu & Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, alias Rashid Engineer, seeking to be released on custody parole to attend the ongoing budget session of Parliament.

NEW DELHI/SRINAGAR: The second leg of the session, which began on Monday, will conclude on April 4. The Barapulla MP's plea also sought interim bail as an alternative if custody parole was not granted.
On Wednesday, a bench of justices Prathiba M Singh and Rajneesh Kumar Gupta issued notice on the plea filed by the Baramulla MP, who has been in custody since 2019 in connection with a terror-funding case. He approached the Delhi high court against a March 10 order by a city court denying him custody parole.
