The Committee Has Been Tasked With Conducting An Empirical Study of the Prosecutorial Framework
JODHPUR: Taking serious note of the persistent administrative chaos in the office of the Government Advocate at the Jodhpur Principal Seat, the Rajasthan high court on Thursday ordered sweeping reforms and constituted a committee of senior advocates to suggest corrective measures.
The court observed that despite previous directions issued more than a decade ago, no meaningful steps have been taken by the state government to address the chronic issues affecting the prosecution of criminal cases.
Justice Farjand Ali said: "Time has come when the State should be asked to put its house in order and take necessary remedial measures." The Court expressed alarm that even in minor criminal cases—such as the one under Sections 341 and 323 IPC being heard in the present matter—repeated adjournments were being sought by the State, indicating deep-rooted inefficiencies in prosecutorial support.
