Excise case: ED gets nod to prosecute Kejriwal, Sisodia

The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) has granted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sanction to prosecute Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal and senior party leader Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged irregularities in the promulgation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22, people aware of the matter said.

The development comes weeks ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled to be held on February 5.
In response, the AAP said that this reveals that its "leaders were prosecuted without a sanction." It also blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party of allegedly "misusing agencies" ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
