Centre plans regulatory body to curb job scams
Hindustan Times Haryana
|November 18, 2025
The Union government will set up a regulatory authority for recruitment agencies through a proposed bill that aims to shield jobseekers from scams, including in foreign placements, ensure social-security benefits and help tone up collection of employment data in the country, two officials said.
A draft bill seen by HT provides for government registration of all private placement agencies, creating a national registry, along with a three-tiered regulatory authority at the federal, state and local levels.
Without sufficient guardrails, India has witnessed a proliferation of job scams and network illegal migration that prey on desperate jobseekers.
