NEW DELHI: Around ₹22,280 crore worth of properties in at least 11 cases that were attached in different cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have been restored to the victims or legitimate claimants, officials aware of the matter said. The 12 cases under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) include those against fugitives liquor baron Vijay Mallya and diamantaire Nirav Modi.

"This achievement highlights the effective use of sections 8(7) and 8(8) of the PMLA, which allow for the restoration of assets to rightful owners," a senior ED official said.
