HC overturns life term of BrahMos engineer accused of spying for Pak

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court on Monday set aside the life sentence awarded to a 28-year-old BrahMos Aerospace engineer, who was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan, citing that the prosecution had failed to establish the allegations of espionage.
The court further reduced his punishment to three years’ imprisonment, a period he has already served, and ordered his immediate release.
Nishant Agarwal, a resident of Nehrunagar in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, had worked for four years asa system engineer in the technical research division of BrahMos Aerospace.
