FIR cites negligence; culprits not identified

The fire that broke out at Vishal Mega Mart in Karol Bagh last Friday, killing two customers, was caused by the lack of proper fire safety measures and failure to ensure public safety, according to the first information report (FIR) filed in the case, officials aware of the matter said on Tuesday.
The FIR, registered under sections 287 (negligent conduct with respect to fire) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, does not name any accused. No arrests had been made until late Tuesday evening, police said.
Investigators are also yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
