CPCB air quality data missing again, second time this month

Delhi woke up to another cold morning full of fog and light winds on Saturday, which became colder still by evening as several parts of the city received light rain.

There were no diversions or cancellations in flight schedules, airport authorities said, and the rain did not have any meaningful impact on air quality, which remained in the "very poor" category. There will be light rain in the early hours of Sunday as well, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 17°C, 2.9°C below the normal. The minimum temperature saw a slight increase and was recorded at 7.7°C, 0.3°C above the normal. IMD has forecast the maximum and minimum temperatures to be 17°C and 11°C respectively on Sunday. In contrast, Gurugram logged a minimum of 9°C, with the maximum at 15.3°C with light rain across the district.

"A moderate fog might form on Sunday morning. No significant rain is expected. Northwesterlies are likely to start blowing in the region from Monday, leading to a dip in minimum again," said Mahesh Palawat, vice president at Skymet.

Rain IMD officials said that the rain has occurred due to an interaction between a western disturbance and the easterly winds. While the early hours of the day logged no rain, several parts of Delhi-National Capital Region started experiencing light rain in the later part of afternoon.
