Union home minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated 4.25 times more funds to Uttarakhand between 2014 and 2024 than what the Congress government provided during its tenure from 2004 to 2014.
“From 2004 to 2014, the Congress government gave $53,000 crore to Uttarakhand, whereas Prime Minister Modi allocated ₹1.86 lakh crore between 2014 and 2024....that’s 3.5 times more,” he said. “In addition, ₹31,000 crore was allocated for roads, ₹40,000 crore for railways, and ₹100 crore for airports. If you add it all up, the BJP government has given more than 4.25 times the amount given by Congress.”
Shah added, “I want to tell the Congress to stop disrupting the state’s development... don’t throw bones into the sacred fire. Otherwise, you won't be visible even with a telescope. When the state is progressing, it is the responsibility of every political party to support its development.”
He was addressing an event in Rudrapur of US Nagar district to mark the grounding of investment of ₹1 lakh crore under Global Investors Summit.
“Bringing investment to hill states is as challenging as climbing a mountain, but Dhami has broken all such notions. With an investment of ₹1 lakh crore now coming into Uttarakhand, over 81,000 jobs have been created. I would like to extend my congratulations to Dhami and his team...,” he said.

MF Husain: Man and myth, art and artist
M F Husain is undoubtedly India's best known and perhaps most highly regarded modern artist. As an editorial in this newspaper put it last week, he is \"arguably the most inventive artist of Indian modernism\". This is why it's not just sad but upsetting that an MF Husain museum will open next month in Doha and not in the country of his birth.

Where is everyone?
We've been searching for decades, but haven't found so much as a microbe in space yet. Could it be that we're early; that life simply has not evolved yet in the neighbourhood? Are we doing it all wrong? Is there a bustling universe of sentient beings out there, waiting for us to catch on? Humans are now beginning to build technology that could make the difference in our quest for alien life. We have a growing understanding of what to look for. We're getting better at sending probes to nearby planets, which could tell us more about where and how to search. What might we find? Why does it matter? Take a look
