SC slams SIT, orders probe into Noida officials’ assets

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the special investigation team (SIT) of the Uttar Pradesh Police, which is probing alleged excess pay- ‘outs made by the Noida Authority as land compensation, to complete its investigation within two months.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, sitting with justices Ujjay Bhuyan and N Kotiswar Singh, expressed dissatisfaction over the SIT’s request for more time, remarking, “You also seem reluctant to conduct the probe.” The court further instructed the SIT to examine the assets of Noida Authority officers, including law officers, who served during the period in question.
