Assault on doc at Srinagar hospital, CM promises action

Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday promised action after a resident doctor was allegedly assaulted by an attendant of a patient at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital last night triggering protests by the doctors.
Officials said that Dr Shahna-waz, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was slapped by one of the family members of a patient who died in the emergency of the SMHS hospital of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar. A video of the assault has gone viral on social media. The incident prompted protests by resident doctors, interns and other staff of the GMC, Srinagar and its associated hospitals demanding action against the assaulter. The college has also filed an FIR in the concerned police station.
