SIT questions former YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh police on Friday questioned former YSR Congress party general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy in connection with the liquor scam that allegedly took place during the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, people familiar with the matter said.

The SIT, headed by senior IPS officer SV Rajasekhar Babu, questioned Reddy for nearly three hours at Vijayawada to find out his role in the alleged scam and about others who were involved in it.

Speaking to reporters later, Reddy said the SIT authorities had asked him several questions about the alleged liquor scam and he had answered whatever he was aware. "The SIT was satisfied with my responses. I told them I am willing to appear again if needed," he said.

He said the SIT had asked him whether the meetings with regard to finalisation of liquor policy during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime had taken place at his residence.

"I told them that two meetings were held at my place - one at Hyderabad and another in Vijayawada. Both the meetings were attended, among others by former AP Beverages Corporation Ltd managing director D Vasudeva Reddy, Lok Sabha member P Mithun Reddy and former IT advisor to the government Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy alias Raj Kasireddy," he said.
