Season's Hottest Day at 42.1°C

The Capital recorded the hottest day of the season on Saturday amid cloudy skies, with the maximum temperature going beyond the 42-degree mark.
NEW DELHI: However, the sizzling heat was later disrupted by sustained surface winds.
The weather department has forecast similar weather conditions, with winds gusting up to 30kmph on Sunday as well.
While at Safdarjung, the base weather station, the maximum temperature stood at 42.1°C, the hottest place in Delhi was the Ridge (43.3°C). Palam recorded a maximum of 42.3°C, Ayanagar 42.6°C and Lodhi Road recorded 41.9°C. No weather station recorded a heatwave.
According to IMD, a heatwave is when the maximum temperature is above 40°C, while the departure from normal is 4.5°C or more. It is also a heatwave if the maximum is over 45°C in the plains.
