Global economy likely to grow 2.3% in 2025: WB

The World Bank said on Tuesday the global economy is expected to grow 2.3% in 2025, 0.4 percentage points lower than its January 2025 forecast.

NEW DELHI: This is the slowest global GDP growth since 2008, barring the recessions of 2009 and 2020, which were triggered by the global financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Bank said.

Country-wise projections from the World Bank's Global Economic Prospect report showed that India will continue to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world with a projected growth rate of 6.3% in 2025-26 despite a 0.4 percentage point downgrade from the January 2025 projection. RBI's growth forecast for 2025-26 has projected a 6.5% GDP growth. India's growth rate is expected to increase to 6.5% and 6.7% in 2026-27 and 2027-28. China, on the other hand, is expected to keep losing growth momentum, with an expected growth rate of 4.5%, 4% and 3.9% in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
