West Bengal finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya on Wednesday presented a ₹3.89-lakh crore state budget for 2025-26, unveiling a series of infrastructure and agricultural development projects, allocating significant funds for rural connectivity, river erosion control, and agrarian support initiatives.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) government also announced a 4% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees from the upcoming financial year, in a move aimed at addressing ongoing concerns raised by agitating employees who have been demanding for better compensation.
"I propose to provide ₹3,89,194 crore (net) in the budget of financial year 2025-26," Bhattacharya said in the assembly, adding that the gross state domestic product (GSDP) grew by 6.8% in 2024-25, outpacing the country's 6.37% growth rate.
