Temporary relief for two Pak women married to Raj spouses

Two Pakistani women, who were facing deportation just days after reuniting with their husbands in Jaisalmer, have been granted temporary relief by the foreigners registration office (FRO), officials aware of the matter said on Saturday, adding that they will be allowed to stay in the country until further instructions are issued by the ministry of home affairs.

The two Pakistani-origin women, Karam Khatoon (21) — who got married to Saleh Mohammad (26) — and Sachul (22) — who tied the knots with Mushtaq Ali (27) — arrived in India on short-term visas on April 11. Mohammad and Ali are cousins and residents of Devikot village in Jaisalmer, and they got married in August 2023 during a family visit to Ghotki district in Pakistan's Sindh province.
However, the two men returned to Jaisalmer in September 2023, leaving their brides behind due to visa complications, the officials said.
