Seven Years On, Acid Attack Victim Waiting for Justice
Hindustan Times Amritsar
|April 06, 2025
It has been a lone struggle for a 29-year-old woman, who is fighting what she fears is a "losing battle" on two fronts: her deteriorating health due to being an acid attack victim and the legal proceedings against the people, her husband and in-laws, who caused it.
NEW DELHI:
It has almost been six and a half years since her husband and four others, in June 2018, entered her room at their house in Shahbad Dairy, snatched her chunni from her neck, strangled her and poured an acid down her throat and on her face. She was 25 years old at the time of the incident.
HT is holding back the identity of the woman on her request.
In the third week of March, the DCP was asked to initiate an inquiry against all the investigating officers in the case. A Delhi court said one of the IOs is misleading the court as they later seized a different saree and mattress in the acid attack case.
