The Ministry of Home Affairs Has Yet to Share Details Why the Security Drills Along Border States Were Suspended
NEW DELHI: A mega civil defence drill scheduled across the border states of Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, as well as the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday evening has been postponed, officials aware of the matter said, adding that a new date is yet to be announced.
The Directorate General Fire Services, Civil Defence, and Home Guards — a federal body under the Ministry of Home Affairs — had on Tuesday written to the chief secretaries about the Union home ministry's decision to hold a civil defence exercise, titled Operation Shield, across all districts in states and Union territories adjoining the western border.
