Tarn Taran family seeks Centre and Punjab govt's help to bring the body back
TARN TARAN: A pall of gloom descended on the Dhunda village in Tarn Taran as the family received the news of the death of 21-year-old Harsimrat Kaur Randhawa.
"We had spoken to her two hours before the incident. This is shocking," Harsimrat's grandfather Sukhwinder Singh said.
Harsimrat was fatally struck by a stray bullet in Hamilton, Ontario, on Thursday evening during a gangland-style shooting. "Gangsterism is everywhere, and whatever the situation is in Punjab, it's worse in Canada," Sukhwinder added.
The family urged the Centre and the Punjab government on Saturday for their assistance in bringing back her body.
Harsimrat, hailing from a prosperous family in Tarn Taran district, had moved to Canada two years ago on a student permit to pursue her education.
