A BRAND-NEW shop has opened up in a small Welsh town which recently made the headlines for having 13 barbers or businesses offering men’s haircuts within a 0.3-mile radius from one another.

Darts shop could be a cut above in town full of barbers

And many from Porth, in the Rhondda, will be pleased to know it's not another barbers.

Instead, Porth's new offering is a darts shop which its owners hope will be able to capitalise on the booming popularity of the sport.

Emrys Darts - which is run by 23-year-old Max Robertson and his uncle Neill Hamblyn, who are both from Porth - opened its doors on Hannah Street for the first time on Saturday, June 21.

Welsh professional darts player Robert Owen even stopped by to help them open the shop.

The idea for the business was born from their own love of the sport and noticing its popularity in the area.

"Since Luke Littler won the world championships in January, it seems like darts has just exploded in popularity, and amongst kids too,” Max said.
